To the Jan and Josephine Kriz(Kretz) Hadrava site, my g-grandparent Immigrants from Czechoslovakia.
Jan and Josephine Kriz (Kretz) Hadrava
Information known:
Jan (John) J. Hadrava was born on November 12, 1877 in Strakonita, Bohemia, Austria, according to his naturalization records, however, his obit and SS records suggest he was born on December 28, 1878.
Jan (John J.) married Josephine Kriz, b. October 6, 1882 in Moravia, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of John Kriz (Kretz).  Marriage date: March 15, 1903.

Their first four children were born in Strakonita, Bohemia, Austria,  according to the signed Naturalization Records, however, their papers indicate that they were on the ship on October 24, 1910, and the 4th child was born February 1, 1911, which suggests that she was born in the US.
According to their naturalization papers,Jan and Josephine Hadrava and their children set out for the United States from Bremen Germany on October 24, 1910 and arrived in New York on November 1, 1910 on the immigrant ship Kaiser Wilhelm Der Grosse.

NOTE: Even though the naturalization records suggest that Jan Hadrava was on board the ship listed, he is not on the manifest.  The manifest lists the following important  Hadrava information.: Passenger numbers 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27. 23: Josefa Hadrava, age 27,  she is coming to meet her father and her husband who are residing at 1456 So. 24th S. Cedar Rapids, IA. Her Brother in law is also listed as Mat Hadrava on this manifest.  Passenger 24: Marie Hadrava, age 4, female.  Passenger 25: Stanislav Hadrava, age 4 yr. male, Passenger 26: Josef Hadrava, age 2 male, Passenger 27: Jaroslav Hadrava, age 11 months.  Besides the children's names on the manifest not matching those on the naturalization records, the 4th child's birth place and date do not match either.

(This naturalization record is a great Hadrava mystery at this time...Will be working on this one for a while to get to the bottom of it.)

The family settled in LeSuer MN for a temporary time, and moved to Becida,
Hubbard County, MN before 1914 with the birth of their fifth child, Anna Hadrava. Jan was a farmer, and his wife was a homemaker,  Josephine Kriz Hadrava died in 1945 due to a tumor (malignant lymph blasema in her right groin) Jan died in 1968. Note: Her daughter Helen Hadrava Himmelright remembers her mother rubbing her leg and wrapping it up all of the
time, being in pain, but never complaining and always getting things done.

Other family researchers are indicating that Jan (John Hadrava) was married to an Anna Kriz Kretz, the sister of Josephine and that Anna had died during childbirth, and that Jan (John Hadrava) then married her sister Josephine Kriz (Kretz).  They are also suggesting that two small children are buried with them in MN, besides the infant daughter Anna, it is unknown at this time who the other child is.  If you are a Hadrava family researcher and know this information, please contact me on this one.  I have been unable to find out any additional information.

Census Records of 1920 and 1930 only deepen the question of when they first arrived and naturalized in America.
The 1920 Federal Census Records list them as the following: "Hadravia"
John, age 41, arrived in 1910, Josephine, age 37, arrived in 1910
Joseph, age 14, born in Morovia, Josephine, age 13, 1910, from Morovia
Mary, age 11, 1910 from Morovia, Tonka, age 9, 1910 from Morovia (here it is again, as Tonka would have been not born yet in 1910, as her age at the time of the census is 9 years old.)  John, 5 1/2 years, Emily, 3 1/2 years, and
Frank aged 2 1/2 years. Jan (John Hadrava's birthplace is listed as Morocco)

The 1930 Census Records for Hubbard say something a little different.
John age, 51, from Czech in 1910, Josephine, age 47, from Czech in 1911,
Mary age 21, from Czech in 1911, Tonka, age 19 from Czech in 1911,
Joseph Jr. age, 15, Emily age 13, Frankie age 11, Helen age 10, and Olga age 8 ( No listing for Emil or John (Leon)
